U.S. Supreme Court Update: Conditional Permitting and the Takings Clause

The Supreme Court made headlines on April 12, 2024, after publishing its opinion in Sheetz v. County of El Dorado, California, where it evaluated whether the County violated the 5th Amendment takings clause by charging the landowner (Sheetz) a traffic impact fee as a condition for granting him a residential building permit. Sheetz paid under protest and sued in state court, arguing the fee violated the 5th Amendment takings clause.

Governor Newsom Introduces Proposed California Budget for 2024-25
